Lok’Arn has spent the past century recovering from The Cataclysm, an event in which the moon broke apart and the world was struck with a large fragment of the explosion. Half of the population and nearly two entire continents were destroyed by the impact. New and old national rivalries have ignited with recolonization of the dead lands, and the old order of the council of magic has been diminished in scope and capabilities.
New threats emerge as the world is stabilizing, by those who wish to take power for themselves. In this increasingly interconnected world, regional issues can quickly become global and risk further mass destruction.
The small kingdom that the player characters inhabit, Lutisia, is a border country in the Valice Republic. The Queen, Naomi, has relatively recently come of age to take over the royal duties from her councilors, who have run the kingdom since her father’s death a decade ago. She has begun to notice the level of corruption within the highest ranks in her kindom, and wishes to end it. She will need allies, and to protect her image or risk being deposed.
The party starts their journey in the capital, Bron. Recently, there was an attack on the town of Husk to the southwest with several people captured, by a large gang of bandits. The player characters were all either among those captured or those rescuing the captured. Their skill in combat was witnessed by Royal Guard Captain Macduff himself, and he saw the potential.
