Adventure Introduction:
Grizkh was absent-minded and I knew better to entertain him. We strolled
through the forest outside Sandport on a beautiful spring day. I succumbed
to green tree capes and early yarrow flowers sprouting from the ground
everywhere. Sandport’s nickname in the early spring is well deserved –
Desert Yarrow.
I always rely on Grizkh’s trekking ability – the Orc side of his being never loses
its way. But his human side is what made him my friend – he was kind hearted,
gentle and loyal. Grizkh was my artifact, a treasure found once in a lifetime.
We met several merchants, one couple trying to steal a forbidden kiss deep
in the forest and a few adventurers looking for better tomorrow and glory.
They all went silently by my companion, only the girl shrieked when she saw
her first Half-Orc. Grizkh was deep in his thoughts and I could swear he saw
no one.
After some time, he soundlessly set up our tents and crawled inside his.
“Nite, Aaron.”
“Night, Grizkh. We can sleep in tomorrow.” I looked forward to sleeping on a
warm ground and waking up to no danger in a long time. Sandport was near
and the forest is its safe zone.
I woke up to the joyful chirping of some small bird. Smile washed from my
face when my nose caught a scent too familiar. I crawled out to see his tent
destroyed, and a thick trail of blood leading West, away from Sandport.
