In Gaia Awakening: The Charms of Light you assume the role of a practitioner who discovers one of Zarathustra’s Charms. You will require the Gaia Awakening Core Rulebook (CRB), two six-sided dice (2d6), along with a pen and paper or word-processing document, to play.
The story is set up with an Introduction, a handful of Location Details and a few pertinent Story Points. The rest is down to you, and your imagination. Use the entirety of the CRB and any Gai Awakening Expansions to assist you.
The Actions you take should depend on who and what you see, and how you wish to interact. Keep a record of your story and adapt it as per the results of each Action.
As you progress you will see that you are behaving as your own Storyteller, creating the interactive world in which you are playing.
Use the Character Creation section of the CRB (commencing at Page 76) to create your Character.
Once you have familiarised yourself with the following few pages, you are ready to begin.
Zarathustra, the Patron of the Magi, foresaw the coming of the Collapse. It was revealed to him through visions that his beloved Ashavan (those who possess truth) would one day be tested against those who serve Druj (falsehood). The Universal source of Magic – Kwarenah – would be stripped from humanity and the groundwork would be laid for good to be corrupted by evil, unless the Ashavan were equipped for a final confrontation that would bring a new age of glory for Gaia and her people.
Zarathustra’s teachings would become the basis of a system of theology, adopted by the most powerful shepherds of humanity as Gaia’s connection to Magic diminished over the centuries. Though his message remained intact and his positive teachings gave humanity hope through those dark times, Zarathustra also worked secretly with his closest priests on a practical way for the Ashavan to succeed.
In one of his Fire Temples Zarathustra achieved what no other practitioner of Magic had accomplished before or since; the binding of sustained Magical force to inanimate objects.
