Level 9 – 1 – Dungeon of the Mad Mage (Tier 1) Level 9 – 1 – Dungeon of the Mad Mage (Tier 1) Dweomercore. A school of witchcraft and wizardry…but evil, or something like that.
Map Notes. First thing to note is there are 2 versions of this map. Tubes and tubeless – the rooms are identical and if using walls/line of sight, would be indiscernible from each other for your players with the exception of the little alcove in the bottom left corner of Map A. I repurposed this to show off a few of the pneumatic tubes, which are otherwise completely behind walls; and which I spent entirely too much time on but everything connects as described!
This release, as per the norm, is split into 2 releases, with this release covering maps A + B, the north section of the level. Here is how things are split up:

If using the DD2VTT files, note that Area 4 and Area 22 have walls around the fountain and basin you will need to delete. I’ve included a red curtain token/image in the zip files and embedded an OPEN curtain on the map. Use the token/image above the map to hide, then reveal the paintings in Areas 5 and 10. I changed up the design of Area 20 just slightly to simplify the visual a bit by making the stairs not run all the way across. There are now more defined stairs and seating, which allows the elevation to come across more clearly. There are a lot of faint lighting effects throughout the map that aren’t noted in the book. It is entirely a style choice and they should be deleted if you want to run it by the book. Just FYI – this is a comparison what the map looks like without those lights and why I add them in.
Files. I have included both Background “_BG_” and Transparent “_TP_” versions of each of the maps listed above; background means it has a flat grey image behind the dungeon, transparent means there is nothing there. For the Roll20 versions, this means the background version is a jpg while the transparent version is a png (jpgs don’t support transparency); Foundry are both dd2vtt files. IF you want to puzzle piece the sections together like above (NOT RECOMMENDED), you have the transparent versions available for that. However, if you set up each map to an individual scene, you could use either, but the _BG_ jpgs will meet the file size limits for Roll20 (TP pngs may not!).
The zip files below have the Level 9 Maps A and B, in both Tube and Tubeless versions, as well as a GM overlay for each map. Roll20Free is a .jpg < 5MB, Roll20Paid is a .jpg < 10MB, while Foundry formats are dd2vtt files. Roll20 maps are at 70 and 140 px per grid cell respectively and the Foundry files are 100px (this also holds true for the transparent images).
