Phantoms of Dusk Island is a 5th Edition (5e) Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) session zero adventure module for a group or solitary character of APL level 1. The Basic Rules or Core Rulebooks (Player’s Handbook, Monster Manual, and Dungeon Master’s Guide) are required to run this adventure. The Curse of Strahd Sourcebook, Van Richten’s Guide to Ravenloft, and Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything are recommended optional sources and supplements for this adventure.

Thissession zero adventure is a mixture of character creation, actual gameplay, rules discussion, and the development of a social contract between you (the DM) and your players. The adventure is built around these elements and guides you through them like a tour.
The setting is Dusk Island,a mist shrouded island that “floats” to various watery locations in Barovia, other worlds, and other planes of existence. Battle maps and full details of this island and its settlement (Dusk Haven) are included in this adventure PDF and as separate JPG files downloadable upon purchase. The setting may be used for any horror campaign.
At the conclusion of this adventure, each player will have a character built to your campaign’s specific requirements, participated in the three pillars of adventure, shared their expectations, and you will have some character background story hooks to begin your horror themed campaign.
